Kois a Hiding

Do you see the kois? They swim so fast that you can hardly see them, hiding beneath those wide leaves. Kois can grow as large as a human thigh. They're a sign of good luck and they can be quite expensive to breed.
The ripple effect is again by corel.

Meri Krismas

This is one for the Christmas cards. I just thought of drawing snowmen, Christmas trees, bells and stars on Christmas balls. As you can see, the Christmas season is still prevalent at this time. Maybe, I just love Christmas this much.

Impression

Have you seen those petals which showered in the Lady of Medjugorje or was it in Fatima? Anyways, I saw some of them in Free Press, and noted that there were imprints of the Virgin Mary and Jesus on several of the petals. It's amazing. Some believe they came from heaven, some think it's a hoax. If it were how, could they have transferred those images on such a fragile petal without damaging it? Well, it inspired me to make my own version.
The elevated effect was the same one i used in conversations.

Whorls and Swirls

This came out differently from the original. I was doing patches but I wasn't pleased with the outcome so I decided to apply some effect using corel. It resulted to this, which is so much better

Sox for Santa

Merry Christmas!!! Don't we all love Christmas? When we were kids, we can hardly sleep at during Christmas eve anticipating what presents we would get the next day. Socks are hung by the chimney, in the hopes that Santa would easily find them and stock them up with gifts. Wouldn't it be great to be a child once again?

Color in Bubbles

Bubbles are colorless and transparent. But on a whim, I decided to put colors. Why not? I'm free to do whatever I please. So in my world, the bubbles are very colorful. They burst and merge, creating a larger bubble.

Mother and Child

Their have been so many depictions of the mother and child, paintings, sculptures, drawings. I can't pass up my chance can I? So I made my version, Christmas version to be exact. I have always had this preference for blue, I have always been atrracted to this color. The snowy effect was again by corel, the rest was done in free form with the aid of a mouse. I haven't tried drawing with the touch pad yet. Maybe it will be a lot easire.

Grand Dame

This was just an effect of doodling. It wasn't intentional. With constant swirling of the mouse this image was created. So I tweaked a few lines, added colors and voila a profile of a matriarch with a coiffed hair do showed. Of course, I played around with the drawing by adding a smoking cigarette.

Masque

I have always fascinated with masquerade, with the elaborate gowns and coiffed hair do's the people are wearing to the mystyfying effect of their glittering masks. The disguise enhances the charm and the mystery. We all wear masks everyday. Different faces for different folks. If we take them off, would we still recognize who we truly are?
The picasso effect is by corel.

Red Leaf, Green Leaf

Aren't you amazed at how leaves are designed. Look at them closely and you'll see patterns. Sometimes you see a leaf pattern inside a leave. There is a vast array of greens and some leaves are even marroon. Aren't you amazed by the God who can think of all these details? And if He is concerned with this lowly plants, how much more with your life, with you whom he created in His image and likeness?
Notice that the texture of this drawing is the same as that in blue angel.

Lake Placid

It would be nice to just spend one lazy afternoon, lying on a hammock, gazing at a peaceful lake, with cranes swooping in to fill a day's meal. The soft breeze kissing your face and the afternoon sunlight casting shadows around huge trees. That would be heaven! Well, I just moved my mouse around and made my dream come true. The watercolor effect was done by corel.

Hearts in all Forms

People come in all forms and sizes, and so do hearts. We love differently. Some hearts are more wounded than others, some more giving. Some have never been in love, some have had theirs repeatedly broken. Some more loving, some are more kind. I decided to depict them in this drawing. I had fun creating this. Is it a coincidence when I made this it was near Valentine's day? The snowy effect was courtesy of corel.

Golden Snowflakes

I made this Dec 2006. The paper presentation was near and I need to diffuse the stress. So rather than blow my top on nurses, co-residents, I drew these snowflakes. It's kind of a wishful thinking to think of snow in the Philippines, I guess. Escaping reality perhaps? I just experimented with the lines, boxes, sprays and circles all available in the accessories box. The texture was provided by corel.

Funny Geishas

These 3 geishas were inspired by my terrorizing consultants. I will not name them for fear of retribution. Haha! I just thought of drawing them in a fun way to vent out. At least, I'll remember them with a smile. This drawing took a lot of effort but with much persistence, I finally got what I wanted. Corel only gave the paper effect, the rest was courtesy of "paint" and sheer dedication.

SunCrab

I remember during the summer when my friends and I would go to the beach, I would often see little crabs burrowing into the wet sand, struggling persistently to dig a hole. I often would see them because I would be looking for sea glass. Instead of finding the latter, I would often catch a glimpse of a tiny crab scurrying under the sun's scorching heat. I know they aren't colored orange yet, but in some parts of the world, maybe they already are. Who knows? Maybe it's just orange because it's a fitting contrast to the turquoise blue.

Eggs on Easter

In this part of the world, Easter is very much celebrated without much emphasis on bunny rabbits and easter eggs. It was just copied from the Americans. I like seeing the colorful easter eggs, and got fascinated with how meticulously they can be painted and decorated. The Faberge' eggs are elegant and elaborately designed and crafted, the price of which may cost an arm and a leg. Anyway, I just wanted to depict these eggs and their burst of colors.

In Memoriam

This was created in memory of the 3 fishes we had in the office. They kept me amused for a time though I adore dogs more than fishes. To me dogs are more lovable, they wag their tails when they see, they climb on your lap devotedly, they show you when they are pleased or when they're in a foul mood. Fishes are, well, like moving statues. They eat and swim, wait on you to feed them. But I drew them because my co-residents loved them so much that there was much wailing, misery and grief when they decided to go to heaven at the same time all because one overly generous colleague fed them several times a day. Initially, I drew them in free form, spray painted along the lines and filled the back ground. The bubbles are corel's doing.

Circus and clowns

As children, we often loved going to the circus because we know it would be fun. The exciting roller coaster rides, the daunting ferris wheel, the stomach-lurching, swinging pirate ship... and of course the clowns. They never seemed funny to me though even when I was a child. They never entertained me as much. Maybe because they never spoke and all they did was flourish a hankie and make a coin or a flower appear. I am into magic, specifically the black magic. Seriously though, I adore magicians like David Copperfield and the Angel one who performs in Vegas. Their brand of magic seems like an impossible feat. But with this drawing, I was inspired with clowns. i don't exactly know why. It started as a star but then it came out like this. Of course, corel had a hand in making it look scratchy.

Cliff

Is she waving goodbye? Is she going to meet him? Is she contemplating on jumping off the cliff? Is she happy or she sad? Is she waiting for him or just spending her lazy afternoon watching the ship and the sunset? I don't know for sure. The leaves were made with the little squares you see at the left of the paint board. Lines could be drawn freely or the line button could be used. The former was more challenging to use. I also used spray paint for the color gradations.

Mangled

Don't worry, I wasn't copying an actual picture of a mangled child. I was just experimenting, trying to see whether I can draw a figure using the lowly mouse and only the paint program. Well, it looked like the actual doll figure I copied. I just found the in the office with a missing arm, and I thought of drawing it,my way of de-stressing from the endless demands and complaints of consultants, residents, nurses and patients. I pour in my frustrations in my artwork and I feel better. The blood was just added for gory effect. This could be the result of watching too many horror movies.

Blue Roses

Blue roses. If you are in love with some one would you ever give her one? I was just bored of the stereotypical roses, we always see. Dark red, blood red, pink, yellow with shades of orange, white... so why not paint them blue, that would interesting and out of the ordinary. Predictable things are a bore, aren't they. There has to be something new to offer all the time. No one wants to be stale and stagnant.

Leaf and Trunk Banana

Well, I just got inspired by the lowly banana. It was quite easy to do this. I drew with a mouse, fill it up with colors. It was easy to draw the lines because the button was already there. You just have to be a little creative and do a lot of experimenting to see what works and what doesn't. The little whorls were again courtesy of my old fashioned corel.

Beans

I know they don't look like beans. I just named it as it is because Jack and the Beanstalk drove me to do this. I was just reminiscing the curls of the tendrils of those beanstalks which poor Jack used to climbed to get to the castle. Maybe, I was nostalgic of being a kid then, no patients to worry about, no death and sickness to deal with, so unlike today. Anyway, I used the same technique as I did with my previous posts. Again, thanks to corel for the ripple effect.

Blue Angel

It was nearing Christmas. It was near midnight and I got a few minutes to rest before another patient comes along. So to unwind, I thought of creating a digital drawing that looked like a Christmas card. I wasn't able to finish it at that time though because I was called by the ICU nurse. So, I finished this drawing several days after. Again, I used corel for the felt like effect. I'm sorry I could not anymore remember what it actually was.

Alone on a love seat

With this drawing, I experimented with paint program that is present in every microsoft. I was doodling with my mouse in our office. I did not know what to actually draw.I started with having a violet background, then I pressed free form select. Then, it resulted to like having a paper with cut outs in it. I colored the cut outs by using fill with colors. The elevated effect happened when I used corel. I pressed plastic or something to that effec and voila it resulted to this.

Angel Candle

It was nearing Christmas and I was inspired to draw this angel beside a large candle. The deadline for our paper was near so I needed to destress. This drawing was the answer.I used corel for the painting effect.
